Alicia Keys and Bento Box Interactive have done it again with their newest app Mookey. Mookey is another addition to the Journals of Mama Mae and LeeLee. This interactive story app has vibrant graphics, a powerful message, a cultural experience and to top it off there are social emotional and literacy skills woven throughout. Children who may not be given opportunities to travel often or not at all are given opportunities to travel to other countries and places through this app and the first app Blue Moon. The literacy component that children experience using this app is a teacher’s dream. As an Early Childhood Specialist, I’m adding this to my top children’s app list.
I enjoyed a panel discussion/press conference about the new app with none other than the Grammy-award winning mom Alicia Keys and her team, which included DJ Walton and Makeda Mays-Green, behind her new app Mookey. Alicia attended the American International Toy Fair’s opening day on Sunday, February 16th. She even cut the opening ribbon for the 111th annual American International Toy Fair. I was able to hear and feel the passion Alicia has for her interactive children’s apps. One of the brains behind the curriculum aspect of the app is Makeda Mays-Green, who is a force to be reckoned with in children’s media. Her passion and expertise in early childhood curriculum was evident and impressive. I’m so excited to be able to share a glimpse into the press conference, so you can hear Alicia’s passion for her apps. Watch below:
