Who remembers Laura Ingalls from TV show Little House on the Prairie? That was one of my favorite childhood television shows. My favorite character on the show was Laura, played by the amazing Melissa Gilbert. Well, she is far from that little house on the prairie and now a children’s book author. The actress braved the snowy streets of New York City last week to have dinner with a room filled of mommy and family bloggers and introduce her new children’s book. Introducing “Daisy and Josephine“. Josephine is actually Gilbert’s French bulldog, who she mentioned the book is partially inspired by. She is clearly in love with her 5 year old dog, who even has her own stylist.
Daisy and Josephine was written out of Gilbert’s desire to write a book for children who don’t have the conventional family. The children’s book is about overcoming shyness and finding herself with the help of her dog Josephine. It’s also a tribute to her dad, who she lost when she was 11 years old.
