This mommy is at it again.  Celebrity mom Alicia Keys has been all over the map in the last few months, from a sneaker line, to a new album, new video, philanthropic work and now a new children’s app.  She’s a force to be reckoned with and like her new album says, “Girl on Fire”.  I had no idea she was working on a children’s app, so it was truly a surprise when I heard the news.  I was excited to jump on this news and add it to my collection of children’s apps.

Ms. Keys has teamed up with Bento Box Interactive, to create a one-of-a-kind immersive storytelling app, entitled “The Journals of Mama Mae & LeeLee“.   There are a number of storytelling apps on the market but few are truly unique.  I believe this app has the ability to make it into the truly unique caliber of children’s storytelling apps.  Now I haven’t tried the app as of yet, but that will soon happen and of course be featured in a Tuesday Teacher Talk post.  I can’t wait to try this one with my students.  “The Journals of Mama Mae & LeeLee” is available for iPads + iPhones.

From The Mamamae.com Website:

Centered around a touching story, the app encourages exploration through music, journaling, rewards and more. Underscored by Alicia Keys’ original music and inspired by Keys’ own relationship with her Nana, the app tells the story of a relationship between a young girl (LeeLee) in New York City and her wise grandmother (Mama Mae).

The app has been created to enhance the classic storytelling experience for children and families as innovative features engage them beyond the pages of a book.

Will you visit the Mamamae.com site and find out more about the app?  Do you currently use storytelling apps with your child?  What are some of your favorite apps for children?
