Today’s Mommy Monday is all about the workout mama!  I try to get to the gym at least 2-3 times per week and sometimes it’s just not possible.  So, I can imagine how difficult it is for moms to make time in their busy schedule for some “me fitness time”.  However, over the last couple of years I have seen many gyms add childcare facilities, children’s classes and lower the age for members.  I think these changes are long overdue and required for today’s fit family.  As soon as the childcare center in my gym opened it was packed the first day and the evening classes were packed as a result.  My Zumba class is filled with many fit moms and I think it’s awesome.

I’m happy to see these changes, which not only allows busy moms and dads more options but it also sends a positive message to your children that health and fitness is an important part of your life.  Children always learn by your actions, so if they see you going to the gym regularly then when they get older they will most likely follow in your footsteps.  And we can’t forget the good old YMCA, where I always was as a kid.  YMCA’s across the country offer great family packages and classes.  So, check it out.  Did you know there are also Zumba classes for kids?   I am a Zumba fanatic!
